Jara Sochiye

"India is a great country" is nothing much to cheer about in today’s time.

The irony today is that this has become a thing of debates on many historical subjects and is contested and argued to the extent of changing India’s rich culture. The so called interpretations dispute and distort the historical beliefs and facts recorded in innumerable literature and books. If go by the public trial by these parties of the Mythological history of India. we should rather be ashamed of our glorious past.

All this is done in the name of governing India as if these Parties are Thekedars of India and this Theka is conferred upon themselves by these parties after the independence.

In today's India,  the politics of selfishness and political rivalry has peaked to the stage that main stream voter likes to keep away from the dirty games parties play to stick to power and is quite inactive on voting. The shape has changed from colonial and aristocratic rule of past India to political power rule in the disguise of democracy in modern India.  This has become a business now.

What has gone wrong from the day Independence was conferred on India?

This is the most valuable question that is boggling my mind.

The answer is not going to solve the problems faced by India today since every power monger will answer the above question to keep his interest supreme.

The argument here from all parties would be, we keep public interest supreme and all of them will show something of that nature in their manifestos. However, no political party has time to solve the problems but all the time to settle scores with their opponents and fill their always empty coffers with public money laundered by various means through power, control and authority.

I, as a common man can have a view generated by some common sense.

I would in fact try to give some reasoning to above question in a way I see things had happened and I have seen that all through my life experiences. But again this is my individual view and may not get any worthwhile support and acknowledgement from readers.

However I do feel that some of the points I mention here should make an awakening in the public.

The independence brought immense opportunities to India for becoming a real democratic and powerful state.

The word,"Independence" was thoroughly researched by law makers based upon the system in UK and America.  However this so called independence has made a mockery of all the constitutional provisions and governance of India if we look at what has been achieved as compared to what could have been achieved in 65 years of independence.

India today boasts of the highest no. of illiterates and poorest of poors in the world. There is nothing like hygiene, health, housing and food to tens of cores of people in India, I would say the governance of India has miserably failed. None of these items should have been luxury if one sees that India is 65 years old independent country. What you see is rise and rise of political clans and families and fall of dignified living in India by Aam Admi. While in Kuala Lumpur, I was happy to note that some of my Malaysian acquaintances visited TAJ MAHAL and they were very elated to see its structure, but simultaneously I had to look down when they disclosed that Delhi was very Dirty and congestive. This was in the year 2008. They went on to highlight poverty in Delhi. Malaysians are 25 million people. They got independence exactly 10 years later to India but today they command a top order per capita income in the world and also a very sound and impressive development in infrastructure and city life.

Some prominent Indian leader's greedy and possessive attitude had been the genetic disorder in Indian political system that culminated into gross unruly governance of India where only politicians have right to decide and rule. Although the poor votes every time on the false promises of getting independence from poverty forever, this has become a political vote bank tactics to keep him poor which again and again benefits politicians in every election. Just before elections for last 65 years congress has been fooling the public that it will eradicate poverty once for all but did nothing in that direction.None of the policies of congress generate income for poor. The schemes do show up only beginning very election and never get attention afterwards.

Congress operates on the basis of a country wide racket where decades of politics has been developed into vote gathering exercise where down trodden and poor form the basis for winning elections, while the intellectual stock and most common people left to lurch.

The immense support and popularity enjoyed by Nehru had been taken as proprietary by congress party to rule India for ever. The congress movement before independence was actually a great mass movement which set goal on Azadi. As single point agenda facing everyone, people in corers joined the ranks and file of congress to give support to the movement in their own interest. After independence this voluntary support of mass public which should have been given a national tribute by closing the chapter of struggle for independence with a new look party agenda for tackling problems facing the country. But congress as we see it today also cannot give up ground on the mass support it enjoyed with public and let go the same party and try colour flag as the mascot in every election. Though independent India could not see any wrong in running the same party with look alike national flag, this gave congress the legitimate right to rule India on the basis of achieving independence thereby side tracking the basic movement philosophy.

Today also on many occasions congress remind its opponents of their contribution in getting rid of British rule. British gone, but left a trail of their luxury style governance which was adopted with pride by Nehru and congress party. This extravagant way of ruling poor India for last 65 years drains out thousands of corers of exchequer money till date is a   curse of political environment prevailing in the country today that India is diseased & superimposed with corruption in every public office or body governing India?

It would be really difficult for poor people to see a future where politicians are not the constraint and get good life without promises from politicians.

The vote bank politics that congress is the mother has divided people of India & led into cast wars and quota systems that has already made innumerable damage to one system of common man common benefits. Its leaders worked throughout these years to safeguard their own interest first than those of public and country.

This basic default line in the governance inculcated since independence in the system of political governance of India has led to the above question largely unanswered.

The rampant corruption and protection of  leaders from criminal cases has made the judicial system irrelevant as far as it comes to getting justice against politicians and  award sentence to set precedence.

The family rule culture in India was initiated by  Jawaharlal Nehru.Had he not done this mistake India’s future would have been at least equivalent to that of Japan now. But the trend has maligned through all parties and diseased the system of governance.

Similarly the legacy of administration left by British made collaboration between the politicians and bureaucrats. The desire of king like style of living in free of cost sprawling Lutyen bungalows and enjoying power by both had made the possessive attitude turn harder and harder. Both have become equally corrupt and ineffective to be interested in living this life forever through their generations yet to come. This was later on enjoyed by Judiciary equally where rampant corruption is the hall mark today. Why then they will care about public?  Who has time to think about?

This life style was a dark blot considering very poor condition of Indian public. But Nehru could not think of anything better for governance.

Similarly some of the weak approaches shown by Esteem PM Jawaharlal Nehru on Kashmir had become a contentious issue between India and Pakistan that led to 4 wars and killed thousands of people both sides. The partisan carnage could not awaken Jawaharlal Nehru to take hard decisions and strict action against Pakistan. But as he was very sensitive and over confident of his international image he took matters to UN to get the shock of his life. A blunder of ages had been thrown upon integrity of Indian. The mistakes in reading correctly Chinese intentions and faulty handling the Chinese aggression only speak of his very weak internal personality and failure of his wisdom when dealing with hard & cruel.

The independence gave freedom of speech and actions, but this became by default easier for the powerful magnates to manipulate law, where we find no public code of conduct for the rubbish and filthy language our politicians use.

Now time has come to have a relook at the constitution of India which instead of safeguarding the interests of Indians has now become a tool in the hands of these Politian’s to cling to power by hook and crook.

We need a constitution where such powers in the hands of politicians are curtailed outright, thereby removing corruption from public & benefit people of country instead of some families or parties.

We should limit expenditure on ministers and MPs officially and ask them to live like a common man. A constitutional amendment that the wards of politicians cannot become MPs or ministers will root out corruption.

An independent public selected body not under Government control should look into the wealth of politicians, government officials and corruption in public offices to eliminate corruption.

A system of area wise vote pattern should be devised where minimum voting from all walks of life is essential to declare validity of the election result. This will eliminate vote bank politics.  A voting below 60% should be null and void. The maximum age of 65 years and qualification of MPs, MLA and ministers should be mandatory where only a graduate can become minister. There should a ceiling on the Rajya Sabah route to Minister Ship to discourage party loyalty.

Corruption increase with the sight of every election since money is needed to win elections. This is happening for last many decades but this has crossed all limits currently. Show business in politics should stop and when this stops corruption level will also come down. The criminals should be permanently barred from getting tickets. This can be done by applying the same formula applicable for getting a government job.

We must target reforms in the political system of our country to begin the journey towards good life and prosperity. This is most important need of current hotchpotch we witness in all affairs in public life.
